NOTE
What does "Dew point" mean?
- The dew point is defined as a temperature at which air including water vapor begins to dew.
Thus the term is often used as an indicator for the degree of dryness of wet air.
The lower the dew point is, the less water vapor is included, which means a higher degree of dryness.
How to decrease the dew point?
- The methods to lower the dew point, or to increase dryness of dehumidified air with the use of the SUNSEP-WTM modules are as follows.
·Lower the temperature of supply air at the inlet. (Reducing the load of water vapor against the modules.)
·Increase the pressure of supply air.
·Decrease the product dry air flow rate.
·Increase the purging air flow rate.
·Increase the purging flow rate.
·Lower the flow rate of supply air.
Typical purging air flow ratio
- The typical purging air flow ratio for the SUNSEP-WTM is 20% of the flow rate of supply air, namely the production ratio of dehumidified air is 80% of supply air.
However, if an extremely low dew point is not required for dehumidified air, a low purging air flow ratio of 10 to 15% will provide adequate dehumidification.
Decision of Purging Air Flow Rate in Case of The Fluctuation of Dehumidified Air Flow
- The SUNSEP-WTM membrane has a specific characteristic of retaining water in its material,
which absorbs even a considerably large fluctuation of load and averages its dehumidifying performance if the fluctuation cycle is comparatively short.
The flow rate of purging air therefore can be selected using an average load of product air flow rate.
Exhaust of Purging Air
- Purging air entering the purging air inlet exhausts from the purging air outlet in humid conditions containing a lot of water vapor.
If direct exhaust from the purging air outlet is not desirable, purging air can be exhausted at another location by connecting a pipe line to the purging air outlet.
In this case, the backpressure of the pipe line should be not more than 0.05MPa(Gauge) [7.1psig].
Use of Clean Humidification
- The material used for the SUNSEP-WTM membrane has high selectivity and high permeability of water vapor(water molecules), so other gases doesn't almost permeate.
When the difference of partial water vapor pressures exists inside and outside the membrane, water vapor, driven by the difference of water vapor pressure, permeates through the membrane and moves from higher partial pressure side to lower partial pressure side.
Thus, the SUNSEP-WTM modules can be used for clean humidification if required.
The modules are also applicable in case different kinds of gases or liquids are used on both sides of the membrane.
